Webanywhere were pleased to share the stage with University College London Hospitals (UCLH) at the Learning Technologies show last week. One of Webanywhere’s senior e-learning consultants, Kristine Clough, joined Rob Beer, an e-learning designer from UCLH.
They shared UCLH’s recent deployment of a new e-learning system to handle onboarding, based on the popular LMS Totara. Rob explained the issues they had with their current LMS, and how it was failing to meet the needs of a large organisation like UCLH. They were attracted to Totara as an open source solution after their bad experiences with proprietary systems.
They key objectives of the project were to:
- to improve training/compliance figures
- to ensure staff operating safely and competently
- to achieve this earlier in the induction process
- to give staff flexibility and ownership of their learning
Kristine explained how Webanywhere worked collaboratively with the team at UCLH to design and deliver the project to a tight timescale. The full process from initial enquiry, to proof of concept and then final project launch took less than 8 months.
Rob outlined some of the key benefits of the new Totara solution. These include; anytime and anywhere access, easy to use with simple navigation, the open source solution gives them more control about the future of the project.
As a result of the new system, UCLH were awarded a prize for the most improved compliance figures.
