Totara LMS Case Study - Construction Training Portal
Totara LMS Platinum Partners Webanywhere have recently completed the migration of an existing Moodle installation to Totara LMS for MKM Building Supplies to enhance their workplace learning capability.
MKM Building Supplies needed an easy to use interface to accommodate all training needs in one place; delivery of training and tracking across a range of learners.

The challenge:
MKM Building Supplies is the largest independent builders’ merchant in the UK with 37 branches across England and Scotland. MKM provides building, plumbing and timber materials from a huge range of suppliers and works throughout the construction industry (tradesmen, building contractors and local authorities) to channel sales of building materials.
MKM identified opportunities to combine the drivers of industry compliance, the need for enhanced customer service training and a desire to lower training costs in an online learning environment.
The Totara LMS solution:
Totara proved a versatile core technology platform for MKM's new Learning Portal. Learners can log in from anywhere to access learning content that covers key areas of customer service, product knowledge and construction best practice, including:
● Customer Service
● Using Systems
● Product Knowledge
● Health and Safety.
Webanywhere provided development expertise to deliver a custom Totara implementation with a bespoke interface design and sitewide configuration of learner and manager roles.
The company’s reason for choosing the solution was cited as being the
“Longevity of the open source Totara LMS and the ethical approach with sharing best practice/ resources and development across partners… a good fit for the Construction sector with many features 'out of the box' such as CPD tools and sophisticated reporting for managers.”
Going forward, MKM are confident in their adoption of Totara for moving with future requirements; not least because of Totara’s scalability and customisable nature, perfect for the evolving needs of the construction industry's primary distribution channel.
