Moodle / Drupal Case Study - Web Portal for British Safety Council
With the objective of driving new commercial and training services to new and existing members, the British Safety Council turned to us to undertake its complex website and e-learning platform redevelopment project. The outcome was a new Moodle based learning management system, fully integrated with a new Drupal website and Salesforce CRM, delivered on time and to budget.
"We chose to partner with Webanywhere because of their unique ability to truly 'stretch beyond' to deliver a highly complex project within budget and very tight timescales”.
Matt Sharp, Interim Head of Online, British Safety Council
The Challenge
Britsafe needed an easy to use web interface to accommodate all training needs in one place with integrated online store, training calendar and integration with existing Salesforce CRM.
The British Safety Council (Britsafe) is a global health, safety and environmental charity. It works with its extensive membership network and individuals to improve their health, safety and environmental management. With an international trading operation generating £9m per annum in revenues - including an OfQual recognised awarding body - it uses these surpluses and its reserves to support a range of non-revenue generating activities to further its vision that no one should be killed, injured or made ill by their work.
Britsafe wished to transform its online presence by completely redesigning its website to become a content managed information portal for its diverse audiences including an e-commerce store fully integrated with its existing Salesforce CRM. This presented significant design and development challenges in order to deliver the highest possible accessibility, availability and performance for diverse audiences with differing learning requirements.
The Webanywhere solution
In response to the specific targets for Britsafe’s website redevelopment, Webanywhere worked closely with its client during project initiation to confirm the complex requirements before creating an online solution built around the very popular and fast-growing open source content management system, Drupal. Other features of the web solution include:
- e-Commerce functionality to deliver an online store for the British Safety Council’s product range
- Training course finder / interactive calendar
- Secure login to a 'community hub' member area for knowledge sharing and social networking
Another key feature is that Britsafe.org integrates wholly with Britsafe's existing Salesforce CRM to support and service its clientele, improving administration efficiencies. Webanywhere provided the IT development expertise to achieve the seamless data migration between Salesforce CRM and the Drupal website CMS. The automation of this and the build of the simple-to-use and manage online store has reduced administration costs, and the platform is future-ready in terms of scalability and functionality.
