Below are free secondary science teaching resources for teachers in UK schools at KS3 and KS4 level to help you save time spent on lesson planning. Secondary school science teachers may find these websites useful for developing their own lesson plans or for signposting their pupils to innovative online content.

Key Stage 3

The SITA UK Education site can help pupils to learn about reducing, reusing and recycling waste, using interactive Flash games and animations. It is also a useful parent and teacher resource.

Kids can learn about Rainforest Wildlife on environmental education website, The Rainforests, which also has information on the people, landscapes and deforestation.

Pupils can read about birds and wildlife on the RSPB Kids pages of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Birds. The section also has pages of useful teacher resources.

Key Stage 4

PEEP - Physics and Ethics Education Project - is a GCSE level resource to help pupils prepare for the exam syllabus. Areas covered include the climate, robotics, space, energy and public health.

On Yenka Science a range of virtual laboratories are offered to help demonstrate a range of scientific concepts. There is a wide range of free materials, as well as paid-for resources.

British Standards Institution Applied Science is produced in line with the GCSE double award and includes useful information for both pupils and teachers. It also supports the 14-19 agenda.
