Using School Jotter to notify parents during the strikes
November 28, 2011 // Comments OffOn Wednesday the majority of schools across the country will close.
With disagreements between the government and public sector ongoing, teachers have decided strike over proposed pension reforms.
Changing plans due to the strikes
Teachers’ strikes can have a real effect on the daily lives of members of the school community. Closures can mean parents have to take the day off work, after school clubs have to extend their hours or child minders take on extra bookings.
This means it’s vital for pupils, parents and staff to know whats happening at their school.
Problems communicating
Predictions suggest that most people will be affected by upcoming school strikes, with 90% of schools and colleges closing on Wednesday. However, many members of your community may be unaware whether this figure includes their own school.
Papers, radio and local newspapers are often unreliable and unspecific, lacking up to the minute information or contingency plans made by schools themselves.
Spreading the message
Luckily, we’ve seen many customers using School Jotter to keep everyone informed about the strikes.
Schools have taken advantage of the easy to use web editor, providing real time updates on their position during the strikes. Rather than only updating the LEA or national sites, many have decided School Jotter is an easier, more effective way to reach everyone affected.
