Working together

Working as a community is a vital part of school life.

Classes need to share ideas and reflect together to improve their skills. Similarly, Colleagues need to exchange best practice and keep up to date with events and meetings.

This isn’t always an easy task though. Anybody who’s failed to open a colleagues document, due to not owning the correct program, will know how frustrating sharing files can be. Also, if you’ve ever misplaced your diary and missed a meeting, you’ll know how difficult it is to ensure your always in the right place at the right time.

Google Apps can help.

What are Google Apps?

Google Apps for education

Google Apps are online tools developed to enable collaboration and sharing. They have a variety of uses, from messaging with Google Mail and Talk, to slideshows and word processing using Google docs.

The Apps can be easily integrated into your schools Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Once you’ve placed the Apps in your VLE, you’ll have a hub of useful tools and resources for students and staff to use anywhere online

The benefits

If you integrate Google Apps into your VLE or school network, you will save time and increase efficiency. With just one log in, everything you need is at your fingertips. Don’t worry about downloading documents or changing file extensions, everything you want is available instantly online.

The web based apps will help improve communication in school. All staff and students can send emails and instant messages to ensure everyone is up to speed with school events. There’s no need for a diary either, your appointments and meetings can be stored in your Google calendar, so you never miss an important date.

The service can also help improve teaching and learning. Now users can comment on documents, drawings and presentations, encouraging peer review. The ability to discuss online, rather than on scraps of paper, makes critical discussion simple and accessible for everyone.
