The Learnanywhere Workshop

Workshops covered a wide range of uses of technology and were predominantly led by teachers presenting their uses of technologies in the classroom.

The exhibitors were kept busy on the day.

We were delighted with the quality and number of nominations for our inaugural awards to celebrate excellence in the classroom. Each category proved a tough one to judge so a big well done to all who were nominated. To get on the shortlist was a major achievement.

Most innovative use of a VLE by a Primary School – – Sponsored by The Global Grid for Learning

Winner: Copthorne Primary

Copthorne Primary School were early adopters of the VLE for primary schools. Initially they developed a wide range of interactive courses for their learners making outstanding use of Moodle for Primary Schools before deciding to migrate all of their course content to the Learnanywhere platform to improve ease of access for younger learners. The courses within both the Primary Moodle and Learnanywhere are highly stimulating, highly appropriate to the needs of the learners and form an integral part of the schools outstanding curriculum.

Winner: Pool Academy

This category proved incredibly difficuly to judge with so many fantastic ideas being put forward. The winner is Phil Jones, Network Manager at Pool Academy. Phil has developed a brilliant block for the schools Moodle site that enables teachers to quickly and easily allocate e-merits in a manner which allows instant integrations with SIMS and enables pupils to make decisions about the way in which they are rewarded. The full details of exactly what Phil has done will be posted soon – it’s a bit too complicated to outline in this short announcement!

Winner: Brinsworth Comprehensive School

Simply amazing! Brinsworth Comprehensive School have engaged learners through the development of a wide range of video game based activities. Pupils from their own school and now from across the region are benefitting from the way in which they have developed a package that teaches a wide range of skills through the planning, design, creation and playing of a wide range of video games. A unique project covering many subject areas that will make a real difference to the attitude of many and the enjoyment of all.

Nicky has created a fantastic 21st Century Teachers Toolkit which provides outstanding advice to teachers on how to make use of a wide range of technologies to enhance the learning experience and to help make themselves more productive.

Winner: Deighton Gates Primary Ivan Lister

Ivan has won this award due to the varied and engaging uses of multimedia and e-learning tools in the classroom.
