The Education Technology Conference 2011 took place on June 28, 2011 at Leeds United Football Club.

The day began with an inspirational speech by Professor Sugata Mitra, of Newcastle University on his experiments around encouraging independent learning via technology, particularly his well-known “Hole in the Wall” project.

A wide range of educational technology companies exhibited in the main hall, and there were a range of workshops showcasing the latest ideas around using technology to support teaching and learning.

The day drew to a close with a speech from Will Murray, of Turn It In, on the increasing use of internet based essay-writing services, and the technology to combat this form of plagiarism.

Finally, we were pleased to present the Education and Technology Awards 2011 – recognising individual achievement in using technology for teaching and learning.
