Four Oaks Primary School in Edge Hill Road, Sutton Coldfield have really developed their fledgling website this year. The website offers all kinds of vital information for pupils, parents and staff so that communication is a smooth as possible in the everyday life at the 420 strong primary school.
Parents can visit the site to find out important diary dates, read their weekly newsletters and learn all about the curriculum that their children are exploring.
They can also find out information about all of the extra curricular opportunities for their children and the provision for Before and After School Care.
New parents to the area also get a warm welcome on the website and can get a real taste for what Four Oaks Primary is all about !
The website gives pupils at the school the opportunity to get their fantastic work published on the internet for all the world to see and admire, and can show their parents photographs, videos and descriptions of the exciting trips and events put on by the school.
Within the website is a link for the pupils to their ‘virtual learning environment’ or ‘Moodle’, where they can pick up varied homework tasks and then can leave their completed work for their teachers to see.
This Virtual Learning Environment is also used by the teaching staff at Four Oaks as a communication tool and soon the Governors of the school will be able to access the Moodle and get information to help them in their vital role in helping to manage the school.
School Jotter has been the perfect vehicle for the development of our now hugely successful website. It has enabled us to create a website with a structure that is easy to follow by pupils and parents alike. The Home Page with the ‘Latest News’ section acts as a perfect introduction to what is exciting and new about our website, and then the compartmentalised nature of School Jotter allows us to allocate these new features into our established, well visited, folders and sections. The support that comes with School Jotter from Webanywhere has also helped us, as there is always someone to contact if you need to discuss issues and now, that support also comes in an automated form, with updates appearing regularly on the editing screen.
School Jotter has developed since its introduction and the ability to include videos, podcasts, polls, galleries and a guestbook has enabled our website to blossom so that it is now the hub of our local school community !
